ABA Education Foundation awards EIGHT scholarships to broadcasting students from across the state

Thanks to stations who ran the ABA spot promoting our scholarship program, we received a record number of applications this year. A group of broadcasters from around the state reviewed the entries and scored each candidate. The top five scoring students will receive $3,000 scholarships, designated for Alabama residents studying broadcasting at an Alabama college or university. In addition, three stations have stepped up to match ABA Education Foundation funds and provide three additional $1,000 scholarships.

Scholarship recipients are:

"I would like to thank you for the scholarship opportunity that ABA provided to me. It was indeed a blessing that could not have come at a better time. That scholarship allowed me to afford the summer classes that I needed so I could complete my undergraduate studies in the four year time frame that I set for myself.

Without scholarship assistance, I would have had to remain in school for additional time that my family and I just could not afford. Words alone cannot express the feelings of happiness, excitement, and gratefulness that filled me when you told me that I had been chosen. I really want you all to know how much that meant to me.
